At Ascendance, we're more than just a dance studio – we're a haven for self-expression and exploration through movement. About the Show:
Incorporating the heart-pounding excitement of James Bond's adventures and the mesmerizing world of pole and aerial arts, "License to Thrill" takes you on a journey like no other.
In 'License to Thrill,' we celebrate and pay homage to the empowerment, allure, and prowess of the incredible women of Bond.

Bumbershoot Festival goers will have the opportunity to view a stunning showcase of pole dancing in a captivating geodesic dome! Bumbershoot brings together a diverse range of talents that truly highlight the spirit of the Pacific Northwest and we’re excited to feature pole dancing alongside so many other artistic communities.
Our mission is to empower and elevate pole dancing as a contemporary performance art medium, regardless of background or practice location. Come witness the power and creativity behind pole dancing as these incredible artists perform to a specially curated playlist centered around the theme "What does pole mean to me?". 12 dancers will be rotating through the day doing mini performances. Every 30 minutes, a new 3 song set begins.

Enter the Pole Pavilion for just $5, and immerse yourself in 3 sensational pole dance performances. We uplift these incredible artists and show our appreciation together. Tipping the dancers is a wonderful gesture that amplifies the love!

Our pole dancing showcase at Bumbershoot Festival is an exploration of artistic boundaries. While these performances are non-nude, they carry an undertone of mature artistry through sensual movement.
Fly Pole Workshop
In this special workshop, you’ll find flight on aerial pole.
This is an intermediate/advanced level workshop introducing dancers to Fly Pole - a suspended silicone coated pole. You’ll learn how to climb the pole, string together a few transitions, and begin mastering some of the unique intricacies of this apparatus. Take your pole practice to new and dizzying heights!
We recommend having prior pole or aerial experience to make the most of this class. This is not a beginner level workshop.
L2+ recommended. Pole climb required. Please wear leggings for this workshop.

Picnic and Play
Join us at Riverview Park for a potluck, Ascendance style! We’ll setup some stage poles and an A frame to play outdoors. Bring your favorite dish to share.

Queer Pole Jam
We invite you to join us in our safe space to learn a bit of pole, hang out, and maybe make a few new friends. This event is just $5, queer hosted, and safe! If we haven’t met you yet, please consider joining our family (for *at least* a day)!
The first hour is a 1 hour taster class, and the last half hour will be play time and time to socialize! Feel free to spend time together and socialize in our lobby before/afterwards as well!

Holding Space: Plus Size Pole Experience
Please join us in our a space to learn a bit of pole, hang out, and make a few new friends. This event is just $5, plus size hosted, safe, and loads of fun! No prior pole experience required, come just as you are. This event is for dancers of any shape and size.
The first hour will be devoted to a intro to pole for those who've never tried. The rest of the evening will be Jam and play time for all levels. We're so excited to have our instructor Shanice here to lead this event.

Community Jam
Community Jams are opportunities to hang out outside of class, to teach and learn from each other, and to enjoy some extra laughs and fun.
We want a real life community, not just one hidden behind phone screens, and feel this is one way we can knit us together further. Come with a friend, or make new ones here!
These events are open to everyone, regardless of studio affiliation.
We suggest you have had some pole experience already to get the most out of them.
All Jams will be supervised by Ascendance Instructors who will lead the group with a combined warm up. The rest of the time is for play! Bring a trick or combo you want to explore or share, and a willing attitude to try new things. It’s sure to be a good time.
